The LED pipe for input gain is securely mounted with a metal washer and needs a little bit of work to get removed from the original panel. It is possible to remove it with delicate tools and patience. You could also just cover the hole with some diffuse tape on the back side of the panel, it will not be as elegant but you will still see when/if the input signal clips.
